Rebus
The Rebus Project looks at how we make sense of information today. It focuses on how words, images, and digital systems shape what we think we’re seeing or reading. Charcoal drawings and motion graphics are used to show how subtle changes (like where a character sits on a page or how text moves) can shift meaning. The project highlights how bias, tone, and hidden cues influence interpretation, much like solving a rebus puzzle with more than one possible answer.
Working in both analog and digital forms creates a unique tension. Charcoal offers a gritty, dense unforgiving mark, while digital animation brings precision and constant change. Together, they reveal strengths and flaws in each method. The project uses familiar tools available to artists today, encouraging experimentation, learning, and a fresh approach to combining hand‑made and digital work.
